Lincoln Cabin Quilt kit 84" X 96" Homespuns BBLCQ kit
Woven cotton is stitched together in a scrappy way using only two block patterns: a scrappy 16-patch and a star pattern. This replica of an early 19th-century reproduction quilt was created especially for the cabin exhibit at the Abraham Lincoln Museum in Springfield, Illinois, by Barbara Brackman and Deb Rowden. Suppose you visit the museum in Springfield, IL. You will find this very same quilt spread upon the bed in the cabin. I have an agreed-upon arrangement and permission from Barbara Brackman to re-print her instructions for this kit. This is my all-time favorite kit in the shop because, being an Illinoisan, the history of Abe Lincoln has always been of great interest to me.
The stars & 16 patches in this early 19th-century reproduction quilt are pieced with Homespun Woven cotton.
Inside this pattern, you'll find history about quilts on the frontier and instructions on creating your version of this reproduction quilt.
Binding and backing are sold separately (binding & backing are not in the kit)
Here at Ma’s, we have come as close as possible to reproducing the fabric picks used in the original museum quilt. Please note that the color may vary from the block pictured, but it will make this a very distinct quilt, and it is one of only 12 others we have kitted—a beautiful addition to your collection.
The Pattern in this kit was purchased from the authors, Barbara Brackman and Deb Rowden. The original booklets are out of print, and the copy included in this kit is protected by copyright; please do not copy or distribute it to friends.
The kit includes the pattern and the fabrics to complete an 84" X 96" top. We have kitted each block (56 blocks) in separate bags for your convenience, keeping the blocks distinct and uncomplicated. The binding and backing are not in the kit; you can purchase them separately.
Let's protect our designers and allow them to make a living from their artwork and writings, just as we do in our jobs. Do not deny them this opportunity to make a living. Let's keep it honest, just like Abe!
