Oh scrap…use it up!
Use it up, make do, wear it out or do without… I have always loved it when I hear someone quote that.
Just repeating the words makes me want to piece a scrappy quilt…how about you?
I often hear quilters say, “I love the look of scrappy quilts…BUT…I just don’t know how to go about sorting or organizing my scraps.” I also hear, “I don”t understand color value, hue, tint, shades or how the color wheel truly works.” The next thing you know, self doubt creeps in and we are all right back to only piecing with coordinating fabric lines.
Now, don’t misconstrue what I am saying, I am soooo…not discouraging you from buying a full line of coordinating designers fabrics. In fact… IT IS MY LIVELIHOOD to sell you those full lines, soooo…I highly encourage that! Those full lines of fabrics you purchase to make a particular quilt pattern, include an added bonus: more scraps! A great way to build a very blended scrap basket! But chances are…you have been adding to that basket for years. It all circles back to “use it up.” It is ingrained in every quilter, well… mostly all of us to hold onto even the tiniest of scrap. And why we wonder? It’s because we just know that someday, we will be piecing that scrap quilt. Now you can, and I want to make it happen for you this spring!
I am very honored to have Tea Mah “The Scrap Queen” from St. Louis MO, as a guest speaker/instructor here at Ma’s. Mark your calendar for her lecture and trunk show: Friday March 30, 2018, 1:30 pm – 4:30pm. & workshop “Exploding Star” on Saturday March 31, 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.
I will post soon on my web site the workshop description & cost. You may choose to attend the lecture/trunk show only OR the workshop only or you may choose to do both.
I have reserved a large, well lit venue near Ma’s shop, to host this educational new found joy of…scrapping.
So plan on joining in on the fun, and let Tea show you how to empty out that scrap basket!
If you think you don’t have enough scraps yet…step into my Lair my friend… I will show you how to add to that fabric shopping basket…I mean scrap basket…
