With Father's Day just around the corner, I would like to say that when it comes to a quilter's cheering corner, I often find that it is the husbands who are the very best to cheer you on in your chosen craft. When a husband comes into the shop, I am so tickled to see that they not only cheer on their wife but often help choose the colors and approve the pattern. They carry the bolts to the cutting table. Their support shows the love between them, and that is such a heartwarming day here at the shop. I also get great joy not only from mailing out a Gift Certificate when a husband calls the shop to purchase one, but also from knowing just how much his wife appreciates his support for her hobby. I am also quite sure they overlook the packages delivered by the mail person that are so obviously marked as sent by a quilt shop! This Sunday, we celebrate not only what great fathers they are, but what great quilters husbands they are! I know that my husband gave me his full support when I decided to purchase my first longarm, and then the two buildings that house my retail shop. Without his support, Ma's Got'a Notion would have never been opened, and it sure would not have still been a thriving business 23 years later! So...HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE HUSBANDS OF A QUILTER, YOUR WIFE AND HER QUILTING FRIENDS, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE IN INDULGING OUR CREATIVE SIDE IN OUR MARRIAGE TO YOU. Without your support, who would fix our meals when we get swept up in a project!

I want to remind you that the patriotic fabrics 42", 108", 118", fat bundles, panels, layer cakes, charm packs, and jelly rolls are all 25% off until the end of June. This is a great time to stock up on your patriotic items. Even if you do not have a quilt ready before the 250th, you will have one in your stash when you need it. If you are someone who does quilts of valor, a good way to save some money on your gift. To those of you who know someone who does valor quilts, maybe you want to help them out with a gift of fabric to aid the cause. No matter whether you need it or not... You can't beat the price!

July 1st, the following will be my new hours for the next few months:

Closed: Sundays, Mondays & Tuesdays. 

Open: From 10 am - 4 pm Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Open: 11 am - 2 pm Saturdays............ (Closed on Saturday, July 4th.)

I will be working most days, along with Deb, and each Saturday for the month of July. Deb will pick up all of the hours starting July 29th, as that is the day I have my 1st knee replaced. Once my knee is healed, I will be back at the shop and put in some longer hours. I know the other knee will need to be replaced, too, but I think it should be put off until the kids all have vacation days again, maybe in spring or summer. For the 2nd knee, I think I'd prefer to wear shorts, so I will wait for warmer weather for it too.

My hubs will be having another stent next week. I am hoping this will address his shortness of breath. I hope he can get back out and about on his scooter and enjoy some of the summer.

I am starting to finish up some new samples. The girls get them pieced quicker than I can get them quilted and bound. I hope to get several things quilted so I can sit and bind while I recoup. I am also piecing a homespun quilt to big stitch while I am off. Oh, I have such great aspirations, we shall see how it goes!

I have a few more grey hairs and bags under my eyes from a sleepless night...my Ragdoll Cat Miss Maizie Needles got outside for a full night and day, I was just beside myself! I had two new recliners delivered, and all we can figure out is that when the men were carrying them in (two pieces to each chair), they must have propped the door open, and she slipped out. She usually hides when strangers come in, so we didn't think anything about not seeing her, until we didn't! She is home safe and sound, clean and dry. I found her at the back door, just waiting around for me to pick her up and bring her in this evening. Whew, she had us in a tither for a while, she really didn't understand why we made such a fuss over her, silly cat, as she must have found some place to weather the rain and wind!

I hope the new hours won't deter you from visiting the shop. I sure wish I had a way to keep the normal hours, but life happens, and if you will all bear with me, things will return to normal soon. 

New things will continue to arrive regardless of whether I happen to be in the shop, in the studio, or at home in my recliner with an ice machine nearby on my knee. Fabrics are ordered months in advance, and we get them months and sometimes even a full year later. So please stop by the shop regularly. Deb will keep me informed about what's in, and I will keep them posted on Facebook and on my website. Speaking about the website...

Online orders will continue to go out; your orders should not have any delays except for the day I have surgery, which might be a day late. We label all the packages at the shop now, then just drop them off at the post office. With that being said, yes, the postman can pick them up, but he can't because he is past our shop before we open, so we must take them to the post office. Deb will pack and label them, and my kids will go up, pick them up, and deliver them to the post office for the first 2 weeks that they are here, while I am off. After that, in week 3, Deb will drop them off at the post office the following morning. I am hoping that by week 4, I can go to the shop and sit for a while so Deb can go to the post office the same day you order. So, everything by post should really go out for the most part the day you order, and maybe within the first 24 hours after you order in week 3. All in all, the mail must go, you know! So please don't hesitate to order. We will get your order out very promptly!

I know I get a bit windy sometimes in these newsletters, but I want you all to know the whys of why of what's what, and when is when for's...ya know, now the where for's! I can hear my dad in the whys and what for's in that statement; he was famous for the whys and what for's!

Hope to see many of you before I take this break. Don't forget me, while I'm gone, I look forward to your visits and to hearing about and seeing your projects! I'll be back before I know it, so keep Deb busy on the days I'm gone, so she can have a full report at the end of the day on who I missed that day and what you are working on!

Give your Hubs, your Fathers, and your Sons a hug around the neck this Father's Day, and if you have not yet made them a quilt, do so before next Father's Day...I have just the fabric for that!

Also, tell them I think they are just awesome cheerleaders, and I appreciate their cheers for you, too!
