Missed my Birthday!

Welcome to Ma's Got'a Notion
Here at Ma's, we got your back...quilt back, that is!!!

Well, I reckon that when you reach a certain age, missing a birthday is okay in some instances, but not so good in others, if you get my drift! It was OK this past birthday because I was at a quilt show vending (something I haven't done for a couple of years, and have sorely missed). Thank YOU, River Country quilt guild in Jacksonville, IL, for the invite!  But I missed my birthday celebration with you guys back here in the shop! That's OK, because I am going to give us a few days to catch up on the celebration! I decided that, though a bit late for my actual birthdate (please spread the gossip that I have grown a year older, it's a good thing at my age to be talked about, for instance you can say, "you know how many, many, many trips around the sun Ma has made and she's still having sales" LOL). Yep, it's a very good thing, and it's going to be a magnificent sale too! I think you might have put off buying several things I have in stock, but now you have a chance to get them on sale!

The sale will take place on Thursday, August 7, Friday, August 8, and Saturday, August 9, 2025. This will give you three full days to celebrate with me and your pocketbook, too! I am not participating in the All Illinois Shop Hop this year, but I hope you will still make a detour to stop by the shop and enjoy a little "savings celebration" with me! Please forward this email on to your friends who may not get my newsletters.

I will have the sale bill waiting for you at the door when you stop by the shop. But let it suffice it to say...It's a "hot August in Havana, IL," and Ma wants to give you a cooling station in her shop. Meanwhile, I'm offering some grand savings to warm up your sewing room for the cooler days ahead, with some awesome projects! Yep, I'm helpful like that, and I take my title of "enabler" to heart! LOL

A quick update on the hubs: On August 26th  , they will install a defibrillator just under his skin with 3 wires leading to his heart. In September, a date has not been set yet for the removal or insertion of a new stent in his pancreas, whichever is deemed necessary, will be performed once they gain access. This will either result in the removal of the existing stent or the insertion of a new one to continue draining the accumulated fluids. Some days, his belly appears to have gone down significantly, while other days, I'm not so sure. Fortunately, the gallbladder and its accumulation of stones that caused all this in the first place have now been removed. Each day in 2025 has brought something new to deal with, it seems. The stent has been rescheduled for September because they want the defibrillator first.
On the other hand, I, too, am on the "waiting list" to get the Watchman put in my heart. I see my cardiologist on Tuesday, so maybe I will get a date sooner or later. I do not want any procedures for myself until Don's is done and he is feeling well enough to wait on himself for a few days while I recoup. They say the procedure is as simple as pie, but the area they insert the wires in the groin can give one fits for a few days. The shortage of healthcare workers becomes particularly apparent when one falls ill. I had heard others share their ordeals about the "wait" to either have necessary surgeries or a lack of hospital beds, but as the old saying goes, "out of sight, out of mind" until it's your turn to be on that "wait list".

With all that said, the hubs and I are both thrilled to have another year of birthday celebrations! I know that 2026 will be a much better year, because I have confidence that one surely can't have 24 months in a row of hard luck and bad juju, a whole year has to be enough for a household! To better days ahead for your household and ours!

But as we wait out our fate...Let us celebrate my belated birthday with a whale of a sale!!!

Join me and Deb; without Deb, there wouldn't have been a shop to celebrate in this past crazy year, which I have mostly missed many, many, many days in!

Join us for Ma's Birthday Bash sale on August 7th and 8th, 10 am - 5 pm, and on August 9th, 10 am - 4 pm. Remember, I only have one birthday a year, so don't miss this sale if you genuinely want to get in on some sweet sales!

The savings will be worth the trip, and as always...I've got your back, and there is one waiting for you at a significant savings! Say Happy belated birthday to me, and get a deal on some gorgeous fabrics!

See you on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, August 7th, 8th & 9th. You know you want to!!!

Have a great week, and I hope to see you around the cutting table at Ma's.
