Retired Samples

Welcome to Ma's Got'a Notion
Here at Ma's, we got your back...quilt back, that is!!!

I am sending a reminder that on Saturday, June 14, 2025, my studio will be open from 9:30 AM to 4 PM, and I will be selling dozens of my retired, finished quilt shop samples. I have placemats, table toppers, table runners, wall hangings, baby/children's, throws, twin, full, queen, and king-sized quilts, all of which have been retired. I also have some vintage quilts left from my personal collection for sale.

In November/December 2024, I had a retired sample sale. Since then, I have marked down the ones left from that sale and added to the number of quilts, with many newly retired quilts. The prices on these pieces are below the cost of the fabric and labor to piece, quilt, and bind them.

I must sell these quilt samples to reclaim my studio and make room for fall classes.

Eight years ago, we downsized from a huge two-story home to a small ranch house, so I no longer have a place to display or store these beauties. Many of these quilts are one of a kind, or very few are duplicates in the marketplace. I do not put labels on my shop sample quilts, so feel free to add your own to any of them you purchase. These make great gifts or can be kept for your own personal collection.

I have not forgotten about making videos to sell items by showing them to you virtually. I know many of my customers live out of the area, and many of you are across the country. I know that, for those of you who live miles away or are close neighbors, seeing them virtually is much easier than seeing them in still photos on Facebook or my website. Life has just gotten in the way. Some days, I feel robotic getting up and doing the same chores as I did the day before, and never catching up or being able to add more to my list of things needing done, maybe it is my age! ????

As a reminder, "Art in the Park" will be held at Riverfront Park on Saturday, June 14, 10 AM - 4 PM. Many vendors will also be there, along with several food trucks selling everything from lobster rolls to BBQ to various foods. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the music featuring different musicians throughout the day! Other artisans will give many demonstrations throughout the day, including a blacksmith and potter working their wheel! For children and adults, something is going on all day, so spend a great day at the park. Havana has one of the nicest parks; the shade from the many trees and the Illinois River gives off nature's natural air conditioning!

Havana is a great place to do a day trip, and as always, a stop at "Ma's Got'a Notion" is the place for quilters to find the latest in reproduction fabrics, any color of grunge you may be looking for, plus a beautiful color wall. Ma's carries cotton, flannel, homespun, and wool. At Ma's, we pride ourselves on the samples we make for every kit. Also, no one has your back (quilt back that is) like Ma does, over 1900 in stock on any given day!

I hope to see you at the Retired Sample Sale. This is a great time to start your gift-giving list or get a new quilt for yourself!

Have a great week, and I hope to see you around the cutting table at Ma's.
