Soap for Hope

Welcome to Ma's Got'a Notion
Here at Ma's, we got your back...quilt back, that is!!!

SOAP FOR HOPE!

I hope everyone reading this finds themselves in a warm, safe home free from violence. I trust you, your children, grandchildren, and loving partner have plenty to eat.

This is not the case for many in the USA. Here in Illinois alone, abuse against women and children has risen by leaps and bounds in 2024. I hope to help the shortage of personal hygiene items that those who flee in 2025 need.

I believe we all have known someone who needed to seek refuge in the home of other family/friends and often required to seek outside help somewhere that the abusive partner could not locate them and their children, such as a Crisis Center.

I feel compelled to support humanitarianism programs, as I am sure you do too. We all have our charitable communities we support. What I am asking you to help with from February 1st through February 14th, 2025, will cost you little, and I will give you a 15% discount off of your order of full-price items at checkout here at Ma's. The following gifts will go a long way in helping those who flee their homes with very few personal items. All I hope to collect will be donated to the Mason/Fulton County Crisis Center. I know many of my customers do not live in either of those counties... But I hope you'll be willing to give anyway by receiving a 15% discount from my shop during this drive.

When you bring in (NEW), PLEASE, NOTHING USED, hygiene items, IE, shampoo, conditioners, body soap, face wash, face creams (daytime/nighttime), makeup like foundation, mascara, eyebrow pencils, makeup removal pads, makeup removal creams, personal feminine hygiene products such as tampons, sanitary pads, deodorant, packets of adult wet wipes, body lotions, toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, and floss. These are all very much needed (NEW) products required. Let's not forget the children either; various sizes of disposable diapers, wipes, baby/children's bathwash, shampoos, and lotions appropriate for babies and children of different ages are also needed. As the director told me, "she tells her staff and volunteers."...(if it is not good enough for your use, why would you give it to someone less fortunate?) I have spoken to the Crisis Center, and these new items are much needed.

Please DO NOT bring clothing to donate. Goodwill offers vouchers to the Crisis Center. Staff then take those who need clothing on a shopping trip to purchase their appropriate sizes. While the Crisis Center has space to store hygiene items, it does not have space to store all the varied clothing sizes."

Please take any clothing you have to GOODWILL, near you. As a matter of fact...I just did the 3rd purge of my closets in 8 years (I concluded) that I will never see size 10/12 again. I relinquished all the smaller sizes in my closet, jeans, sweaters, tops, bras, and coats that I have not worn in years because they are too small. All the lovely clothing I donated will no longer fit my fuller figure! So, just like that...my closets, drawers, and cupboards only accommodate my current size and are the only things I have used in the past year! If you have not purged your closet in a while, do so; it is so freeing! I even convinced my hubby to part with many items he has not worn in years (he, too, agreed that the closet space is a good thing to have.)

From 2/1/25 to 2/14/25, when you bring a new personal hygiene item to Ma's to be donated to the Crisis Center, you will receive 15% off all full-price items (except MEBPs and BOMs).

While sending out this plea, I would like to remind you that here at Ma's, we are the largest wide-backing shop in the nation (my suppliers tell me that not one store in Illinois has the amount of wide-backing that we offer here at Ma's.) They have also told me that the over 1900 wide-backings we have to offer here at Ma's, to their knowledge, not one shop that they are aware of in all of the USA has as many as we have here at Ma's. ALSO...2025 will bring so many new offerings here at Ma's. When you require reproduction fabrics for your next quilt top, Ma's does up reproduction the best!

You will receive a 15% discount each time you donate from 2/1/25 to 2/14/25. So donate as often as you can and visit us multiple times during the collection period!

Have a great week, and I hope to see you around the cutting table at Ma's.
