Thanksgiving week!

Welcome to Ma's Got'a Notion
Here at Ma's, we got your back...quilt back, that is!!!

Thanksgiving week has arrived. I am thankful for many things, as I know you are. Family, good health, and my wonderful customers who keep this old gal getting up to a job that I have been thankful for more than 20 years. I am grateful for the little things, like two little great-grandgirls, and the big things, like airlines, that keep me connected to kids from faraway areas. I am thankful for the kids who live nearby and visit when they can. Most of all, I am grateful to have ethernet that makes giving so easy...My heart and extra dollars have been going to the "World Central Kitchen" for the last many years. This organization takes the food directly to those in need at home and abroad, where devastation and destruction have hit, be it from storms, fires, or war.  Please give if you can. I pledged the price of our Thanksgiving Day meal, and those dollars will feed so many hungry for at least a few meals. Here is their link: https://wck.org/

Thank you for reading this far. We each have our own charities, and each is a worthwhile cause. I am very impressed by the work of the "World Central Kitchen." I genuinely believe each dollar I give is used for its intended purpose.

I have been busy at the studio getting a few of the shop sample unquilted tops quilted and bound for the shop to hang. Honestly, I am so impressed with our piecing team at Ma's. I want to name them here and give them credit for a job well done and say they are the ones behind the scenes who keep me busy at the Longarm! Thank you so much, Linda Fletcher and Kelly Noble. A big shout out to Debbie Stell, who gets in some piecing and manages the shop so well for me! These ladies make beautiful samples from the fabrics we offer at the shop. If you see them out and about or at the shop, give them a thumbs up!

Every once in a while, I get to piece, too, and I have been having fun piecing the "Door Hangers of the Month."

I have just started piecing the first one that will be ready for you to pick up, or we can mail it to you in Jan. 2024 so you can have it ready for your front door or entryway as a wall hanging by St. Valentine's Day! All of these are so stinkin' cute and fun to make, too! Your kit will be complete each month, so you can make it and be ready for the succeeding month! Each kit will include the pattern, top, back, hanging sleeve, and binding fabric. Call the shop or stop by to sign up; 1st kit will be ready in Jan. 2023.

A quick reminder, too, that we will have out the "Santa Wish List Box." All you need to do is make a list, sign it, tuck it into an envelope, and deposit it into the "Santa Wish List Box" here at the shop. Remember to address to whomever you want to make your wishes known. We will take it from there; we will add our return address to your envelope, stamp it, and mail it. Then you can sit back and relax, knowing you will get what you want from all the Santas in your world this Christmas. At Ma's, we love putting the word out for you!

I just wanted to remind you that we will close at 2 PM on Wednesday. November 22, 2023, and closed all day on Thursday, Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 2023.

We will reopen on Friday, November 24, 2023, from 10 AM - 5 PM for Black Friday. Yes, we will have some great sales. This also will be an excellent opportunity for you to deposit that wish list into the "Wish Box!"

Saturday, November 25, 2023, from 10 AM to 4 PM, we will be open to observe "Small Business Saturday," the sale from Friday will tread on the heels of Saturday too.

Not sure what to ask for in the ways of fabric or kits? A "Gift Certificate" from Ma's always fits you, and the fragrance of fabric is a winner every time; it never hurts to mention this to your gift-giving Santas!

A quick reminder to everyone that on Saturday, December 9, 2023, Ma's will be closed all day. I will treat Debbie, Linda, and Kelly to the "Fairy Tale Ballet (The Nutcracker)" and an early dinner to celebrate the season.

I'm closing that day for selfish reasons...I genuinely detest night driving! The new headlights that bounce into my line of vision distress me. Several years ago, I had my cataracts removed with the promise that night driving would improve...well, that did not happen; colors improved, night vision not so much! LOL, I blame it on age; who knew all these maladies would follow us into our later years? I heard those before me tell of them, but I was young and robust and knew I would never fall prey to old age afflictions. Haha, how naive my younger self was!

I am sending you all best wishes for a beautiful Thanksgiving Day, surrounded by family and friends. Enjoy, swap stories across the table, and make memories to last a lifetime!

Happy Thanksgiving to you Y'all!

Ma, Deb, and the shop Angels!

Have a great week, and I hope to see you around the cutting table at Ma's.
