Ides of March

Welcome to Ma's Got'a Notion
Here at Ma's, we got your back...quilt back that is!!!
The ides of March are upon us! Let's hope March does not betray us and that it comes in like a lamb and goes out like a lamb too. I am ready for some spring weather already! Since we have had a couple of major winter storms across the USA this winter...I am more than ready as most of us are, to welcome Spring 2023!
I spent a week in CA with my oldest daughter. I had so hoped for warmer weather to get me through the last few weeks of our midwest winters. But it was not meant to be. Rain and wind was on the menu for the last few days of my stay. But on the nice days which were on the front of my stay. You sure can't beat the ocean view there! Great food, the kids seem to know all the greatest spots and knows what nights the best chefs are on duty too, awesome sights everywhere you turn, I love to sit in the open air cafes and people watch, but "due to the weather" got none of that this trip, had a couple of spa treatments...massages are always high on my priority list when on vacation...and it's always an entertaining stay with the daughter, her hubby and their dog Rose who completes their family unit.
I will be flying home tomorrow and I have my fingers crossed that there are no flight delays.
Now that it's time for my return trip home and back to the everyday life of cooking for the hubs and I...maybe I can shed the extra pounds that appear with my eating well on the coast! Golly gee, back to the basics of what my kitchen can produce...boring!
I wanted to let those of you who may still be on the fence, so to speak, about the "Blissful" BOM. I only have 3 full sets left, of the complete BOM. To recap the contents of the 9 month program you get:
The fabrics for the complete quilt top & binding (ours measures 95.5" X 95.5").
Fabric for the top & binding for 2 - pillow shams which measure 26" X 36".
Fabric for 2 - neck pillows.
Fabric for 2 - bolster pillows.
Fabric for a dresser runner,
AND...
Fabric for a night stand topper too.
Please note: (the backing in the BOM is only included for the 2 shams).
BUT...
You will receive a 20% discount on the wide backing of your choice for your quilt upon the completion of the 9 month program.
There will be a few (beneficial to YOU), surprises or two along the way also, with this BOM.
It runs $48.99 per month for 9 months.
Sew much fun that you will want to do a makeover in either your master bedroom or your guest room to accommodate this complete bedroom ensemble.
First block was handed out the 2nd Friday of Feb. but there is still time for you to catch up. You can pick up your blocks anytime you want, or we can mail to you also.
There are several new fabric lines and also kits coming into the shop over the next few weeks/months.
Please keep an eye on my FB page where you will see that I share photos of them there.
And, of course new wide backings come in every week. Honestly, I hardly ever meet a wide back I don't like. That's why I can truly say, "Here at Ma's, we got your back, Quilt back that is" and it be true!
In April I will teach another novice class. 6 PM - 9 PM on Thursdays, April 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th, May 4th & 11th, this will be a 6-week class, and the cost is $50.00 for the total of all 6 classes. There must be at least 3 participants and no more than 7 participants to hold this class. Please sign up no later than March 30th, so I will have a heads up as to how many will be participating. You will receive 10% discount on all full price items you purchase for the class.
We will be making a lap quilt 44” X 58”. It will require the pattern & 3 yards of coordinating fabric for the top and 1.5 yards of wide backing for the back & binding. Also batting. In this class you will be piecing, "quilting & tying", and binding your quilt. You will need to have a #5 pearl cotton to match your quilt top.
Watch my FB page for more info. in the days to come about this class and all things that happen daily at Ma's.
Don’t forget we will be offering a Sit & Sew every other Saturday from 10 AM - 5 PM beginning March 25th, April 15th, 29th, May 13th, and on the 27th.
(We will skip June)
Then begin again on Saturday, July 8th, and 22nd.
Due to Aug. & Sept. being the "All ILL Shop Hop" we will also forgo those 2 months and pick up again in October.
October dates will be announced in a later newsletter.
"IF", any of the Sit & Sew participants feels they would like to supervise the gathering of the group of "wild sit & sewers" in Aug. & Sept. we will revisit the dates for those two months should a volunteer step forward. The volunteer chaperone will be forgive the nominal $5.00 sit & sew fee.
Each session will be a nominal $5.00 charge to cover the cost of lights & gas…and we all know how those two amenities have climbed, almost hard to believe that the utility companies can send us the bills we all have received of late, with a clear conscience!
To merit having each Sit & Sew we will need at least 5 participants and no more than 10 participants. Please sign up for this get together no later than March 21st. You may want to look at your calendar and sign up for other Saturdays in advance so we know to hold your spot.
Either Debbie or I will be hosting the Sit & Sews, as we will each take turns running the shop.
Please bring a little something to snack on to share with other class members and also BYOB.
Bring any project you would like to work on.
If you have a project or UFO that you feel you just want a bit of guidance on bring it, and
we will see if we can’t get you on the road to finishing it!
If you are doing the BOM “Blissful” and would like some pointers on it, come and work on it in this time frame.
All skill levels are welcome and encouraged to come join the Sit & Sews.
This is a great way to network with like-minded people whom you may find ARE in your tribe, and you just didn't know it, until you met them!!!
Just a quick favor to ask before I sign off.
I would like to also ask you to go here: https://www.lqscontest.com/vote/?fbclid=IwAR1Pvkr2SnhpVE0HMYoPqAeqwT_IEBDqqaFPcKaPMBEk3cravOaipJ2txOw
