Debbie is going to show you how a ruler can make the magic of a complex block made simple just by the tools you use!
You will need to bring the following to class:
- Sewing machine (yep, please clean and de-lint it before class) so it is ready to rock and roll! Don’t forget your machine manual… should you need to refer back to it. Your quarter inch presser foot is a must!
- 80/12 sewing machine needles, Sharps are preferred for piecing. Thread to match your fabric. Basic sewing supplies: seam ripper, fine pins (we prefer Glass Heads) your rotary cutter with a new blade, 6 ½” X 24 ½” ruler, Creative Grids Stripology Squared Quilt Ruler, snips, and marking tools.
- Please press all fabrics before coming to class. We make liberal use of Mary Ellen’s Best Press when preparing our fabrics for cutting. We like to have our fabric very stiff before cutting. This will help make your cutting and piecing more accurate.
A kit and or fabrics can be purchased at Ma’s on Main St. (Please note, you must have the Creative Grids Stripology Squared Quilt Ruler for this project). A turn table cutting mat is nice to use, it is not a necessity, but can sure make your cutting and block squaring needs a breeze! Any needed notions can be found at Ma’s
Pressing stations and cutting surfaces are provide for the class, but you may bring your own if you prefer. We have fell in love with the wool pressing mat and tiny steam iron an ideal team to pair up with our quilting space.
Time for a lunch break is limited, so a sack lunch is advised or snacks to share with your class mates. You can always run out for takeout if that is a better option for you. Please bring your own drinks in a spill proof container.
Like all school days….you will have “HOMEWORK” which will need to be completed between the class meeting dates….
