I would like to introduce you to Scott Fortunoff, President of Studio E, FreeSpirit, Blank Quilting, A.E. Nathan, Vice President of Henry Glass. A family owned business since 1930! I purchase from Scott, all those Kim Diehl fabrics that we all love so much!
Ok, the reason I wanted to introduce you to Scott is because of his generosity…Scott has issued me, a sewing machine to give away to someone in need “to an individual”, not any groups or schools. The need may be due to an unforeseen tragedy in their life such as a flood, fire, storm, the death of a loved one or the “want” to learn to sew but does not have the financial funds to purchase a sewing machine. Someone who either loves to sew/quilt or someone who honestly has the WANT to learn but lacks the necessary items to get started. Whatever the reason may be they get the machine with only one string attached! They must be willing to allow Scott and myself to share their story and a picture of them with the machine and other sewing goodies. Also why they feel that the machine will be such a blessing in their life. They do not have to go into deep details, just the basics of why their receiving of the machine will make an impact on their life.
So, before you nominate them, get their permission to share their story. Scott has tucked lots of fun things in the sewing machine box he shipped to me, and I will be adding some fabrics, notions and patterns to it also. If you would like to add to this give away we will have the machine on display in the shop. With a box for you to drop your offering of supplies in.
We also will have a “letter box” where you can add a letter about why you believe the person you are nominating would benefit from the joy that sewing and quilting can bring! If you will not be in the shop for a few weeks, then mail the letter to my Studio: Ma’s Got’a Notion, 106 N. Schrader St. Havana, IL. 62644.
I will need to have your nomination in by Feb. 1, 2020 so a committee I have chosen, will have time to read through the letters and vote on who the recipient maybe. The only stipulations to this is it can’t be any of my employees, my committee members or any of my family nor that of my employees or committee members. So you see it is open to almost everyone! My clientele is located all over the state of Illinois and beyond in surrounding states, so you see, any of you can nominate someone for this give away…BUT, should your nominee win, YOU will need to see that they can get to my shop on Saturday Feb. 15th at 1pm for the presentation of the machine to them.
If you are a guild member, please share this with your members so they have a chance to nominate someone they may know who could benefit from a new machine too. Each of you reading this, know as I do, that we not only sew/quilt/ create for the pleasure of it…but our passion is our therapy too! Pass the word please!
